Finding the Right Pet Food Storage Container
I love my cats, but in my small apartment, a large bag of cat food is not only in the way, it is also an eyesore. I definitely lack storage space in my home and have a hard time finding the right spot to store my cat food. While out shopping one day I came across the perfect answer to my pet food storage dilemma. I found a plastic rubbermaid container that would slide under my bed, and was the perfect size to hold a large bag of cat food.
If you buy food in larger bags like I like to do, you save money on your pet food budget. The problem with larger bags is that the food tends to go stale if the bag is left open for too long. If you think cats don't know or care if their food is stale, think again. How do you like eating stale food? Believe me, they know. So if you are looking for the ideal pet food storage, keep in mind that you also need a storage container with an airtight lid that will lock in freshness.
Pet Food Storage Containers That Seal In Freshness
There are many plastic units you can buy for pet food storage. Because my cats' dishes are in my bedroom, my best bet was to find something that fit under my bed. The pet food storage container I bought does just that, and on top of keeping the food fresh, it also locks out other pests that could get into the cat food. The rubbermaid container that I bought is perfect for my situation as it slides in and out from under my bed on wheels, so it doesn't make a lot of noise on my hardwood floors.
There are other options for for your own pet food storage needs, and you don't have to get one that goes under your bed. Plastic storage containers come in an array of shapes and sizes that will sit nicely in a kitchen cupboard or closet. The important things to look for when buying are size, shape, and if the lid is air tight. You may also want to consider whether or not you need a specific size so that the storage container will fit the entire bag of pet food. This way you do not have to pour the pet food out of the bag. You can try freeze-dried foods that can be stored in your freezer, but that can take up a lot of freezer space. If you can't find what you need in your local department store, you should go to a pet store and see what they have in regards to pet food storage. They may have already figured it out for you.
