Never Buy Another Cat Litter Box

I am a cat lover. We share our home with two cats. They are both independant but very lovable and are great company. When my husband was growing up his family had dogs not cats, so it took him a period of time get used to the difference between a cat's personality compared to a dog. He has grown to love our cats however he is always concerned about the odor from the cat litter box.

Through the years we have had a number of cats. Our first cat was black and was quite independent. He liked to sleep in the house; however he also spent a great deal of time outside on our hobby farm. He did not like using a cat litter box so he would cry by the door when he needed to go outside to use the natural facilities. This worked great. We kept a cat litter box in the basement for him to use if we were gone from home and he was stuck inside. We used a natural litter that was made from recycled newspaper. This worked great because of the limited use that the cat litter box had.

Control Spills with the Best Cat Litter Box

When the black cat was 16 years old we adopted a Siamese that was two years old. He had been de-clawed, so we could not let him go outside. This meant that we needed a cat litter box that would be used on a regular basis. The natural litter did nothing to control odor so we needed to try a different product. When we adopted our new cat the previous owner sent along a cat litter box, carrier and some food as well as litter. We decided that we would keep both litter boxes so that neither cat would have to change what they were used to.

After using a variety of cat litter boxes throughout my lifetime with cats in the house, I found that my favorite litter box was the one that came along with our new Siamese kitty. Basically, the litter box had four seperate pieces, one of which was a grate and you would pour clumping litter over the grate into the litter box. Once the cat has urinated in the cat litter box the litter clumps up and you used the grate to remove the clumps - works like a charm. I use a brand of kitty litter called Kitty Comfort which has antibacterial odor control and I have never had a problem with any odor coming from that litter box. The other nice feature that my 4-piece litter box has is a rim along the top that stops any of the kitty litter from getting kicked out of the box. We hope to eventually get our older cat trained for the new litter box.
